Front:
Remove old coupler. The new Kadee^® gearbox shank must be modified. Cut or grind equal amounts off side of gear box shank until it is same as original coupler shank. Ridges on shank must also be removed. Counterbore top of shank with 1/4" drill to fit over boss on loco. The mounting hole will need to be moved back slightly to line up with mounting boss. Grind about 3/32" off end of a #4x3/8" screw to be used for mounting.

Rear:
Remove two screws holding cover plate (stepboard). Remove old coupler. The new Kadee^® gearbox must be modified. The mounting hole must be drilled out larger from the top side almost through. Use a 7/32" drill. This will allow it to fit over the round boss on the coupler mount. The rear of the gear box shank must be shortened. Cut or grind off approx. 5/32". You want a tight fit so do not cut off more than this until you try it. Mount the assembled coupler using the original screw. If the coupler is tipping upward excessively you may need to trim some more from the back of the shank.
